Welcome to the Gartnavel Affiliated Support Group

Welcome to the support group for Gartnavel and the surrounding area. The support group was originally set up for post surgery however we have had the 'odd' non surgical patient attend - everyone is welcome! We welcome anyone diagnosed with, recovering from, or having recovered from oesophageal or stomach cancer. We also welcome those facing gastric difficulties or individuals experiencing difficulty swallowing or eating food. Whatever your circumstances, we are here to offer support, and we hope you will consider joining us at our next group meeting. The Upper GI Support Group meets monthly in the Glasgow centre, 1st Friday of month, 1.30pm-3pm. Group is open to anyone with an Upper GI cancer and their relatives/carers. It's simply drop-in so you don't need to book in avance.

When entering the hospital grounds from Great Western Road, immediately turn right and drive past the Pond Hotel. Just past the hotel take the next left, which takes you slightly uphill to a mini roundabout. At the roundabout, turn right up another slight hill and the centre is on the left hand side just past the zebra crossing.

Car parking is available in the car park adjacent to the main entrance of the Beatson Oncology Centre. A limited number of parking spaces are also available just past the front of the centre itself.

Directions by bus

First Bus 6, 6A, 6B, 10A, M11  or City Bus 15, 84, 118, 141

Directions by rail

Hyndland Rail Station is about 500m from the hospital site, where trains from both Queen Street Low Level and Central Station Low Level call.

Coming by underground train you can change to the main line trains at Partick underground and go one stop to Hyndland Station on the overground trains.
