Publication of the National Oesophago-Gastric Cancer Audit’s 2018 Patient Report
The National Oesophago-Gastric Cancer Audit (NOGCA) evaluates the quality of hospital care in England and Wales for people diagnosed with oesophageal or gastric cancer. Since 2012, the audit has also included patients with high-grade dysplasia (HGD) of the oesophagus, which is a condition that increases a person’s risk of developing cancer. The audit produces information that helps NHS cancer services to find out what they are doing well, as well as identifying aspects of care that could be improved. By collecting data from all cancer services in England and Wales, the audit enables hospitals to compare themselves with others and against national standards.
The NOGCA 2018 Patient Report is written for patients, family members and carers. It highlights key findings from the 2018 audit and provides information about patient care pathways.
